Dog fight for most of game. Cooper was down 1 with :18 left in game. Good game from what I hear.

Was at the game and I can attest to the claim above about a "dog fight". Both teams played very hard and never blinked. Fern Creek had lead throughout and even got it above 10 in the 4th and the Cooper squad did not quit. McNeil is a gutsy scorer and if left open will hit the three. Fern Creek has its own bomber in Jr Tony Washington who also is a prolific scorer. Fern Creek starting three freshmen has made it through December with a 9-5 record and winner of three in a row at the Eastern Tournament. They are hitting their stride and seem to be ready to give a good game to Bullitt East next Tuesday in a District battle.

After seeing Bullitt East in Lexington I'd say Fern Creek by 8-10

They start multiple freshman, as someone on this board points out in every single post about Fern Creek. If you pay attention to AAU, their freshman all played for the Speice Gators which was one of the best teams in the country. They'll be fun to watch develop for the next 4 years.

I could be wrong, but I think that's one of the Freshmen that will be playing with the 16U Travelers this year....North Laurel big man Bayley Rice was apart of that Spiece Gators team, too.

I believe the entire team is joining the Travelers this year.

Twitter site is @2018KYHoopsBest but as pointed out the team had been together since 5th grade and the starting five are committed to playing up an age level with the 16U Travelers so the Spiece Gators have essentially folded in with the Travelers. Many point out age exceptions or hold backs, but the only 16 year old of the five is 6'8" Bayley Rice at North Laurel. The other four have never been held back and the PG of the bunch, Anthony Wales, will be 14 the entire HS basketball season. The five with the Travelers are post man Bayley as mentioned, the three Fern Creek Varsity starters in PG Anthony Wales, CG Trey Hill, FW Ahmad Price, and 6'6" wing down in Paducah JJ Reed. They finished Division 1 Nationals three years in a row in the Top 10 with a 4th & 5th place finish two of those years. Andrew Taylor of Corbin was also a big part of that team in those years, but he chose to play with Hoop Dreams this coming AAU season.

 

All five have started to gain interest from some major D1 schools already including, Notre Dame, Virginia, Ohio State, Xavier, Army, Western KY, UofL, and Mississippi State. The big difference with these kids at this early age is they have went out and played against the best kids in their age group nationally and their skills translate beyond the borders of KY. They have been to elite camps with the best kids in the country and stood out. JJ Reed made the Top 20 All Star game at the Chris Paul Rising Stars camp this past August with the best kids from 47 states. Ahmad Price made the Top 40 game and Wales & Hill gained recognition from their efforts at CP3 as well. Time will tell how good they can become. The entire class of 2017 & 2018 kids in KY seem to be very strong so hopefully we can begin to kick some tail in the IN/KY All Star game soon.
