Old Soda Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Rough game for the Camels. Their pitchers couldn't throw strikes, walking eleven, while the Eagle pitchers struck out fourteen Camels. Big blows for the Eagles were a three run homer in the first by Krueger and a grand slam by Monroe in the fifth. Camels scored their only run on a double by Austin Beal and a single by Brett White.

Its early...what kind of squad do the Camels have coming back from regional runner ups last year?
C-Squared Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 "Its early" is the key. Expectations are very high for the Camels. No doubt will be a legit contender for the District Championship as well as the Region 10 Title. While the strike zone was very tight, especially for March 27th, Hurd was definitely not at his best and Robertson struggled to get into a rhythm (4 or 5 walks). The Camels didn’t help their own cause very much as they took too many pitches, which in turn left it in the hands of the umpire. Camels’ players should use this game as measuring stick as to where they want to be at the end of year. LCC is the real deal. Very strong squad both at the plate and on the mound. Their #1 ranking, at this point, is justified. Both Krueger and Monroe hit opposite field HR’s that were bombs. The lefty L.C. brought in to pitch the 7th was throwing some good gas especially for a cold, drizzly, first game of the year.
