Inside 5th Region (12/17/14)

Featured Replies

1.Taylor County:

The Cardinals continued to dominate the 5th region and show that they are the top team until someone knocks them off as they picked up two wins last week, both by nearly 30 points apiece.

Taylor County will look to continue their dominance this week as they will take on Bethlehem and Green County.

2.Bardstown:

Despite being 3-3 on the season they are still the defending region champs and they are undefeated in the region so far at 3-0.

Bardstown will make the long haul up to Louisville Fairdale this week to participate in the King of the Bluegrass.

3.Central Hardin:

The Bruins went 2-1 last week with wins over Grayson County and Shelby County with the lone loss coming to region opponent Elizabethtown 66-61.

4.Bethlehem:

Continued to be impressive last week as they would pick up 3 more wins to improve to 5-0.

Bethlehem will look to build on those three wins this week as they will face off against Taylor County, Washington County and Butler County.

5.Caverna:

Caverna continued their winning streak last week defeating both Green County and Cumberland County.

The Colonels will look to continue their winning streak this week as they will face off against Barren County and LaRue County.

6.North Hardin:

The Trojans picked up a big win last week when they defeated Mercer County, they however, would fall to Lexington Catholic the very next night.

The Trojans will look to continue their winning ways this week as they will go up against John Hardin and they will travel to Seneca for the Wes Unseld Classic.

7.Nelson County:

Nelson County was .500 last week at 1-1. They would defeat LaRue County 49-44 but would fall to Bethlehem 67-48.

Nelson County will travel to Washington County this week as well as to Webster County for the Webster County Holiday Classic.

8.Elizabethtown:

The Panthers didn’t have a good week last week as they would go 1-2 with the lone win coming against Central Hardin 66-61. Bowling Green and Louisville Male would both defeat Elizabethtown.

According to the KHSAA, Elizabethtown isn’t expected back in action until after Christmas break.

9.Marion County:

Much like Elizabethtown, Marion County also didn’t have a good week last week. The Knights would defeat Adair County but would fall to Danville and North Bullitt.

Marion County will host Green County this week and return to action after Christmas break according to KHSAA.

10.Adair County:

The Indians didn’t have a good week last week getting defeated by both Marion County and Taylor County and not picking up a single win.

Adair County will travel to Campbellsville this week as well as Rockcastle County and Cumberland County

The 5th Region belongs to Bardstown and Taylor County with everyone else in the rear view mirror. The only team I can even see challenging these two teams may be North Hardin, but they have point guard issues and that is not a good thing to lack against Bardstown or Taylor County. It's basketball and anything can happen in a district or region tournament game, but they are clearly the class in that region.
