Nice road win for the Eagles to open 9th district play.

The atmosphere at Panther Arena tonight did not feel like early December. In a second half that was mostly dominated by Daviess County, Apollo found a way to put it together in the final 5-6 minutes to get the win. Obviously led by Eli Wright, Apollo stormed from 9 down late in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles struggled to find an identity in the middle portion of this game. Their offense just had no flow and lacked energy. Barker made a change at the point guard spot and it seemed to spark the team. Thats not a knock on Ben Moss at all but on this night, the offense worked better with Zach Hopewell on the floor. The younger Hopewell and Chase Survant REALLY sparked Apollo off the bench. Caleb Coomes played solid minutes as you can expect from the senior leader. The late run was capped by a steal and ali oop from Survant that was thrown down with some authority by Wright. Im going to try to get the clip posted if i can find it.

As for DC, felt like they let one slip away. They didnt match Apollo's energy late and it hurt them. I will say Stewart Currie continues to impress. He is as tough as they come and can get shots vs just about anyone. I thought Apollo did a great job of contesting everything Marshall Griffith put up, but he is a player. He still got his. Zach Burton did a nice job of taking his man off the dribble and getting to the hole. I dont know the numbers but DC had to have out rebounded Apollo 2-1. These two will meet again, and possibly again. Its a long season.

Clip of the ali oop from Survant to Wright. I was wrong, it was not off a steal. Still pretty impressive for that portion of the game
