AARON SNYDER: Devils, Rams a rare 1-2 punch

Aaron Snyder / The Independent

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to thank each one of you for making the Monday Morning Quarterback and The Independent sports section a part of your busy lives.

The student-athletes who pour their hearts into games they love appreciate you reading about them, too, I’m sure, not only on Mondays but every day of the week.

That being written, those of you who do dedicate a few minutes to the MMQB column are familiar with the “Got Any ‘Since?’” segment, in which we stroll down memory lane to revisit important points in the history of area programs.

What transpired on Friday night brought forth an opportunity to recognize just how rare this postseason’s events are. In other words, the following “since’s” are doozies.

Usually if December is on the horizon, basketballs are on the hardwood.

But Russell and Raceland are still alive and kickin’.

Separated by 2.1 miles, the schools simultaneously hosted regional final matchups on Friday. Both achieved region royalty and staked claims to state semifinal appearances — Russell goes to Belfry on Friday while Raceland welcomes in Williamsburg.

For the record I just want to comment I have always thought the Daily Independent's HS Football coverage is second to none. They really go above and beyond and do a fantastic job covering their local teams and generating creative feature pieces.

Kudos to the staff.

Could not have said it better myself.

I love Aaron Snyder's articles. He does a great job at the ADI.

I agree completely, from their pre-season tabloid to their weekly articles to Aaron and the Monday Morning Quarterback feature the ADI does a great job of covering area teams.

If you haven't seen it, Aaron and staff are now doing a weekly youtube cast called "High School Prep talk", just another addition to their excellent coverage.
