November 21, 201411 yr Skilled laborers in the United States are at an all-time low, and at current, 53% of skilled workers are over the age of 45. I work in construction, and can tell you first hand that if you want to find a hard worker, it's not tough to find them amongst a crowd of Hispanics. And the jobs that they're doing on my jobsites...they aren't being taken out of the hands of anyone...period. When American parents everywhere are pushing their kids into colleges and $50K+ degrees, who is going to build everything? Computers? A good friend is a contractor and he hates when his Hispanic subs become "Americanized" in his words. He says they have such a great work ethic and really take care to understand and follow instructions. When they are not available he has a devil of a time finding a reliable workforce despite paying a pretty good wage.
