Cooper 1 Boone County 0

Congratulations to Cooper on their District title win tonight. The field was as advertised and made for some difficult footing. It was 0-0 at halftime.

Cooper scored on a ball that was stopped by the keeper but then dribbled through his hands and across the imaginary line at the goal. It was a tough thing to have happen to the Boone keeper who made some fine stops.

Cooper's keep made some fine stops and deflections to keep Boone from scoring. Boone put lots of pressure on the goal at times but could not get one to go in. Cooper had other chances as well but was denied.

Offense had the advantage in the mud as defenders have to react, turn and run. I think Boone will have to truck in several tons of top soil to replace what went home on the players tonight. Cooper can keep the mud as a souvenir of their victory.

As a side note, I got to meet Yellow Card before the game and talked to him briefly afterward. His boy played a fine game. Unfortunately, my son is very disappointed with the outcome, as am I. Good luck to Cooper in their next game. Maybe we can repeat the scenario for the Regional championship, well, all except for the final outcome.

Yellow Card, it was nice to meet you and finally put a face with someone from the BGP.

Once again another stellar post from our guy oldgrappler, even in the face of defeat. :thumb:

He is a CLASS ACT Hoops!!! It was a great match tonight... very difficult conditions for the boys to play in... wish they could have waited another day, or played elsewhere. As my friend said, the offense had the advantage most of the night and it was very difficult on the defenses.

I, as well as my son, continue to discuss how bad we feel for Benjamin... he made some GREAT saves tonight and it stinks that he had some bad luck on the one that slipped through his hands. I hope he keeps his head up and does well in the Regionals next week.

Thanks hoops5 and Yellow Card for the kind words. And thank you, YC, for your concern for Benjamin. I think he did take it hard but he's a good kid and a fine player and I am sure he will be back in top form for the Regionals.

Well played championship game between the two teams, considering the conditions of the field. Hope Boone's keeper can forget about the goal and continue to play as well as he has been.
