Boys and girls this one was a "whale of a match", everyone got their monies worth tonight...and then some. :ylsuper: Due to my concession duties I was only able to watch from the hallway and can't give a very detailed report, but from what I saw this was the BEST the Breds played all season. I'll try to recap from the update thread. NewCath came out on Senior Night with something to prove and did just that. The Breds built nice leads and mounted great comebacks in each game against the Lady Raiders, but in the end Ryle was just able to pull off the victory.

Game 1 NewCath 25-23. NewCath lead throughout this one and had a 24-21 lead, before finally winning.

Game 2 Ryle 29-27. This one went back and forth with Ryle building no more than a 3pt. lead. Breds down 23-20, and end up with a 25-24 lead. On several exchanges it looked like they were going to get the final point, but the Raiders were able to tie things at 25, and finally take the set.

Game 3 Ryle 29-27. Another one that was "nip and tuck" and the Breds last lead was at 19-18. Ryle would only get a head by two or one the rest of the way, before claiming victory.

Game 4 Ryle 25-21. Once this game got to double digits, the Breds had the lead. Their biggest lead was 18-14, but the Lady Raiders go on a 11-3 run to claim the set and match.

Congrats to all the Varsity players for a great end to the regular season, especially seniors Jamie Lohr, Keyiara Lankheit, Laura Brannon, & Oliva Owens.

Thanks to Mrs. Lawnboy and DLG 3.0, for handling the concession stand while I would "sneak a peek" at the action on the court. :thumb:

They get extra kisses tonight. :D

Is Lankheit healthy and playing? What about A. Bush? Read on BGP A. Bush played vs NDA but no one confirmed

Yes & Yes....However, Rachel McDonald has a bad case of tendinitis, but did play.

The Thoroughbreds dropped a home decision, 3-1 (23-25, 29-27, 29-27, 25-21).

Rachel McDonald had 30 kills for NewCath. Teammate Mikah Freppon had 37 assists and Amanda Ruwe had 26 digs.

Top-seeded NewCath takes on either Dayton or Newport in the 36th District semifinals on Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.

Rachel Had 30 kills and the setter had 37 assists? Did she not really set anyone else or maybe that stat is wrong?

NCC is definitely peaking at the right time!

I was at the game. Great game. Great volleys by both teams. Some very nice players on the court.

I was there start to finish. McDonald was killing the ball. She found the hardwood on her hits and they were flying off Ryle's defense. She is also smart and knows when to swing and when to roll the ball. As far as Freppon not spreading the ball, absolutely she did. Lohr and Brannen also played a nice game. They keep the ball in play and find a way to do their job. Lankhite (sp?) does a nice job blocking. Freppon plays great defense for a setter, so many times she was out and someone else stepped in and took the set. That's why the numbers look off. But I don't doubt McDonald had 30 kills. This team was very unselfish last night and looked like they were having a good time.

Ashley Bush is a nice player. Glad she was back in action.

NewCath looked good and perhaps they are peaking at the right time.

Are you the NCC PR Director or R. McDonald's agent?
