11. Walton Verona vs. Trimble County

12. Lexington Christian at Somerset

13. Middlesboro vs. #7 Danville

14. Leslie County vs. Shelby Valley

15. Lloyd at Pendleton County

Thoughts?

Key games for 12, 13 and 14 this week. The Leslie Co. / Shelby Valley game is a big one for both teams as far as the rankings go. If Shelby Valley wins that one, they will likely move into the rankings.

Newport?

They've beaten Walton (I know, I know, he didn't play the 2nd half) and I think they're a little better than Lloyd.

I agree Newport played a great game.

In regards to the "I know latimore did play". My thoughts are this.

Latimore only playing the first half was unfortunate for Walton. You would have to agree that probably changed the game at least a little bit.

Just look at his production for the first half.

He rushed for 101 yards the first half. Walton rushed for a total of 194 for the entire game.

He had 1 kick return for 43 yards and one interception.

So I can't say they would have beaten Newport but you would have to agree it definitely had somewhat of an effect on the game.

Imagine if Price didn't play the second half Newport fans would probably argue the same point.

Hopefully they will meet up again in the playoffs and both teams will be healthy. Both teams have some really talented players. Good luck to them both.

I agree, and I'm not lobbying for Newport to be ahead of Walton. However, they did get the "W" when they played and at least would be considered somewhat even. What was the score of the Newport vs. Walton game at half?

They gave NCC a much tougher challenge than Lloyd. I know nothing of LCA, Middlesboro or Leslie County but would likely place Newport above Lloyd at this point.

14-14. It was an exciting game.

That goes to my point too. Newport appears to be pretty comparable to Walton and I would lobby for them to be in the top 15.
