Huge night in 3A!

#2 South Warren (7-0) @ Adair County (6-0)*

#4 Bourbon County (5-1) @ #8 Garrard County (5-1)*

#9 Mason County (6-0) @ Russell (5-1)*

#10 Elizabethtown (4-2) @ #5 Central (3-3)*

Fort Campbell (1-5) @ #7 Paducah Tilghman (2-5)*

Pike Central (3-3) @ Lawrence County (6-1)

Possibly 5 of the 8 District Titles will essentially be decided tonight.

11 of the Top 15 teams essentially in action against each other.

Very big night. We should probably know a lot more about the playoff picture and who might be viable contenders in November.

Things I'm looking for:

-Can Adair County play with South Warren? South Warren is a known commodity and Adair is the new kid on the block. The Indians get this game at home, which should be an advantage.

-Has Garrard closed the gap on Bourbon County? Colonels beat the Lions 42-0 last season.

-Mason and Russell both have lots of wins, but almost all are close, and almost all were against weaker opponents. Are these two for real?

-Elizabethtown seems ranked more by default than by merit, but can they play Central closer than they did South Warren? Yellowjackets have three big losses, but to three 6A teams. Now is the time Central usually makes their move.

-Paducah Tilghman has stayed in the rankings despite a 2-5 record and no real significant wins. If the Tornado are who we think they are, then they should rout Fort Campbell tonight, right?

You doing any live updates of GC/Bourbon?

I'd be lying if I didn't say I was pulling for Garrard

I'm not. I have press box duties that keep me away from my phone or a computer. I'll try to tweet and post on BGP something in between quarters.

I'll take South Warren as the game may be to big for Adair. One programs biggest game is just another game for some others.

I'll take Garrard because they will have the most athletes on the field tonight. That's something Bourbon is not used to seeing

I'll take Russell because they are starting to click under Maynard now.

I'll take Central and PT just because

So here's what we learned:

#1 Belfry is legit... convincing win over possibly one of the Top 5 3A teams in TN

#2 South Warren is legit... dominating win over Adair County who deserves to be in the 10-15 range

#3 Corbin can destroy bad teams

#4 Bourbon County is not the team they have been the past couple years

#5 Central is not the team people were hoping they would be this year, and may very well be a Title Contender per usual

#6 Bell County is still a bit of a mystery. Middlesboro loses again.

#7 Paducah Tilghman looks pretty good outside of their tough schedule and are improving

#8 Garrard County is the real deal and definitely worthy of a higher ranking

#9 Mason County is what we feared they were due to their unconvincing wins against a soft schedule.

#10 Etown is not ready for prime time and two blowouts to Central and S. Warren suggest they are not a major player for the title.

Russell is a Top 10 team. Maybe even Top 7.

Lawrence County is schizophrenic. They are a Top 15 team.

Pike Central is schizophrenic. They are just outside a Top 15 team.

Henry County is flying under the radar and pose more of a threat than Etown potentially.

Adair County was properly ranked in that 11-15 range.

Estill County is a decent team, but their close game with Bourbon isn't as impressive now.

Magoffin County is a feel good story but not a Top 15 team.

Fleming County deserves more respect. They may sneak into a home playoff game.
