Winning both is enough to make that statement. Winning both with squads as deep and talented as they both are... I think makes them clear favorites.

At first I agreed with what Sir! is saying… they will be the favorites for a few years… the best JV squad becomes the best Varsity squad, best Frosh squad becomes the best JV squad... after some more thought, I lean towards saying that the question you throw out there is a little tougher than that to answer. I think it is great that they were able to win both titles but I am not sure that this translates over to being the favorites at the Varsity level the next couple years... not saying that it won't either… I just think that it is not clear cut and is too tough to predict. I am not sure that there is another program in NKY that has the number of kids that CCH has in their soccer program, much less the depth that they have in some of their classes.

Although CCH won the title for the best Freshman squad this year, I am not sure that you can just say that they have the best Freshman class in NKY. I say this because I am pretty sure that some of the other squads competing in the Freshman Regional were playing a number of 7th and 8th graders, this is because they may have some of their Freshman playing JV, or possibly not playing in either tournament because they are on the Varsity squad. I can think of a couple of NKY schools that have a few Freshman starting Varsity, I do not think these boys played in the Freshman Regional, nor should they.

I think that the numbers, and talent, that CCH has this year also gives them a huge advantage at the JV level. If my info is correct, I believe that if it wasn’t for them pulling up a few Freshman at the end of the year, this squad would have been comprised of only Sophomore’s and Junior’s, I am not sure another school in NKY can make this same claim. Same theory I threw out about the Freshman squad, they definitely have the best JV squad this year, just not certain that you can say that they have the best Sophomores, or Juniors. I also know that this can go both ways, I realize that CCH also has some talented Juniors playing on their Varsity squad.

Off the top of my head, I can think of a couple teams in NKY that start only 1-2 Seniors this season, if these schools had a larger Senior class this year, it is possible that the boys they have playing Varsity could have been playing JV instead. I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not see this being clear cut; the teams that won the Regionals this year will possibly be matched up against a different pool of players over the next couple of seasons, so who knows what happens. The good news is that we get to set back and watch this play out, I think we will be seeing some pretty good soccer played the next few seasons.

There are 8 Seniors, 20 Juniors and 2 Sophmores listed on the CCH varsity roster. Many of the Juniors got the bulk of their playing time at JV this season. And there is a talented (and not small) Sophmore class right behind them. Are there additional Juniors on JV beyond the 20 on the varsity roster? Its a nice numbers problem for the program... maybe not so much if you're on the bottom half of either the current Junior or Sophomore class. Maybe it'll be like being deep on the bench as a Senior on the Highlands football team. It does give hope that a NKY soccer team might break the apparent Louisville / Lexington lock on boys soccer championships.

The 20 juniors listed are either playing JV or varsity as you say, there are no others. Still, with 20 juniors in the program, CCH will be a very experienced and senior laden team next year. And yes, some good sophomores on the JV as well right now.

Until that translates into regional titles, it really doesn't mean much. Been a disappointing season so far in my opinion, even when all hands are on deck and no injuries/illnesses.

Agree. They haven't shown the composure I would have expected from them. Especially passing. Not enough, and not good enough. Always seem to be wanting to go forward with the dribble or pass whether there is space or not.

I would say they are one of the favorites, not the favorite. Feel they were playing better this time last year, and look what happened.

Can't miss anymore opportunities right in front of goal, or I see another shoot out loss.
