Why is it "too hard on everyone involved?"

 

They went 4-2 against a pretty tough schedule. They don't have a significant number of injuries because of it and got some tough playing experience against very good teams. The home games drew huge crowds, which means revenue. It certainly benefited them more than playing any of the non-Super District 6-A teams from Louisville would have.

 

The only way it can be perceived as a bad thing is if you think they lost to St. X because of playing such a tough schedule. I don't think that was the case.

 

Does the home game revenue help off set the cost of travel?

No, I do not think Trinity is the least talented team in the district. Male is at the top and Manual would be 4th after losing Nero, but I would say that X and T are closer than they have been in the last few years. T has set the bar high for the following classes with the run they had from 2010-2012. Even the Brian Brhom years did not produce expectations has high has these. Remember, Brhom's senior year they started 0-4.

 

At the end of the day the cliché of, "it's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Jimmy's and Joe's" is pretty accurate. Beatty and Co. could run just about any scheme they wanted to from 2010-2012 and they were going to beat the majority of teams on their schedule. Last season and this season teams are closer to their ability level so scheme becomes much more important, so the things they were running from 2010-2012 may not be working because the Rocks don't have the Quick's of the world and the means adjustments have to be made.

 

Trinity is still good, but the great coaches are able to take what they have put each player in a position to perform at their best. We will see what happens as the season continues for the Rocks.
