Better SS: Jeter or......

Honus Wagner

Cal Ripken

Robin Yount

Robin Yount only played 55% of his games at SS. Tough to include him. For the record, I'd have him behind Larkin anyway.

Ripken played 77% of his games at SS.

A-Rod, to date, in case anyone is wondering, has played 52% of his games at SS.

Silly, how many Hall of Fame shortstops are there? Rizzuto v Jeter for best Yankee shortstop, that is silly. This one has merit. Nobody has said a word about Ripken yet, and his offensive numbers, especially power #s are incredible considering the bulk of his prime was the 80s.

Remind me of some of Ripken's numbers and I'll certainly entertain the discussion. I honestly don't remember much about him, other than he played every day

I'm going to say it and people will get upset but Jeter is the most overrated and selfish athlete of my lifetime. How you can call a guy a team leader who has been playing shortstop for about 5 years to long and hurting the Yankee's chances of winning by his very below average defense. People don't want to call him on it but the truth hurts. Jeter was very good during the four title run. But was there any point in his career when he was the best shortstop in the game or the best player on his team?
