St. X - 41

Fairdale - 12

This past week St. X hosted the Fairdale Bulldogs in with St. X hosted both Future Tiger Night and Senior Night. Many question why St. X schedules these types of games, the answer...I'm not sure. I see both sides of the argument, but the reason why I do not have a problem with the Tigers playing Fairdale is it allows everyone dressing for the game an opportunity to play and take a varsity snap. At the end of the day, it is hard argue with that reason.

Future Tiger Night is an opportunity for young Tiger fans to come out be a part of pre-game and post game activities. The event has added some new dimensions over the years, but typically the young Tigers in attendance get the opportunity to form a tunnel for the players to run onto the field and receive autographs from their favorite current Tiger after the game. It is a great opportunity and experience for both the future and current Tigers.

St. X also held Senior Night, a change Coach Wolford implemented this year. I have not heard the reason for moving Senior Night up from the last home game. There were a lot of festivities going on at Br. Thomas Moore Stadium and another opportunity to watch the Tigers play!

St. X as expected took care of business and improved to 3-1. Statistics are not overwhelming by anyone because everyone had the opportunity to play and get varsity reps. At the end of the game Noah Houk was the leading passer, going 3-5 for 70 yards and 1 TD. The leading rusher for the Tigers was John Martinez with 45 yards on 6 carries. Finally on offense, Colin O'Daniel led the receivers with 1 catch for 49 yards and a touchdown. Defensively the leader for the Tigers against Fairdale was Jack Kronk with 3 solo tackles and 1 TFL.

Upcoming Game

vs. Moeller Crusaders (OH)

Record

3-0

Last Meeting

St. X 12 Moeller 24 (September 20, 2013)

Moeller is traveling from Cincinnati to take on the Tigers of St. Xavier at Br. Thomas More Stadium. The last meeting between these two teams, Charles Walker had a huge game running the ball, but the offense was unable to punch the ball into end zone against a very tough Moeller defense. The Tigers have not beaten the Crusaders since the 2003 season when Moeller traveled to Louisville and the Tigers defeated them 31-17.

Here is another opportunity for Coach Wolford and his team to make a statement against an out of state opponent and silence some of his critics. Head on over to the St. X/Moeller prediction thread and express your thoughts about who wins this battle of top teams and why you believe they will win.

A final tidbit, I believe this group of seniors beat Moeller when they were freshmen. While that was 3 years ago, it could lead to some confidence within the group.

Really? It is quite simple. You move Senior Night to a more winnable game. That way all of your seniors see the field. Recent years has Trinity moving their Senior Night to the first round of the playoffs. The Rocks understand Moeller will be a tougher opponent for everyone to see action.

Thanks. I'm glad you could point out the simple reason.

Thanks LTR for the update. This next one is a BIG game!!!! Would love to see the Tigers come out with a W!!!!!!

St. X like Trinity prolly has a tough time filling their schedule with local/Ky teams. Need a home game to sell the tickets. Some teams are willing to play for the money.

Tigers are no where near the trouble that the Rocks are in as far as scheduing is concerned. Tigers have had a full schedule of regular season games for many years, at least 30!!! St. X has not had the boycott from JCPS schools that Trinity has, hence first six games on the 2014 Trinity schedule. St. X has traditionally played out of town and state opponents dating back to at least 1959. Typically St. X will play one, two or three out of state opponents each season. Many JCPS teams would love to be on the St. X schedule for the revenue that is generated via fan attendence, regardless if it is home or away. The same can be said for Trinity, however the JCPS teams choose not to play Trinity. You can read into it what you want, I've a pretty good idea why not....
