Anyone at this game? Were the cougars playing out of their minds or did Ryle play that bad?

I was there & HOLY COW!!! This is the 2nd game I've seen Conner play & they are no joke!! They are a young team but not the same Conner people are used to. At one point in the 1st, Conner was leading Ryle 17-9 & Ryle was in complete shock. Ryle can say they played bad & that's why it was close, but Conner's defense was a big surprise. Once Ryle got passed the shock, their maturity level is what beat the young Lady Cougars. I was very impressed with Conner's libero, setter & MH (I know the setter is the daughter of SK's coach but not sure on names of the other 2 since the announcer seemed to have trouble naming all the players on both teams!) Ryle is very good, very strong & once A. Bush is back, they may be unstoppable!!

If Conner can get stronger offensively & work on their hitting, they will turn a few NKy heads!! Congrats to Ryle for the win!! All these close games & upsets are setting up a very interesting 9th Region tourney!!

The recent games like CC over NCC & Highlands over SK...games that were a lot closer than most people felt they would be. I guarantee Ryle thought Conner would be a quick 3 game slaughter that they could give their bench players more playing time and that definitely wasn't the case. These type of games make the end of season tourneys more exciting!!

Just not sure what Campbell County and Simon Kenton have to do with Region 9 Tournament??? They aren't in Region 9. And not even sure either of those matches are upsets, pretty evenly matched teams, personnel wise.

 

To be fair, Ryle was without it's best setter and best hitter in A. Bush (Northwester) so I wouldn't be too excited. She is a senior leader with 4 years of varsity experience and even the best teams would be hurting without her production. She will be back in time for the tourney so I would expect different results. I am sure the Conner girls played their hearts out but please tell the whole story when posting your thoughts on a match. Leaving out that A. Bush didn't play isn't quite telling the whole story on what happened on the Ryle side of the net.

Ryle won 3-0 without one of the best players in the state, St. Henry swept Cooper 3-0, NCC is without their starting middle, and Highlands/SK went 5 sets which tells me they are evenly matched. Haven't seen an upset yet.

Congratulations to the Lady Raiders. Strong program.

I don't believe I was saying Conner will win 9th Region? No one talks about Conner because Conner hasn't been a real tough volleyball program however this isn't the typical Conner team. If people are going to constantly use the "Best player didn't play" excuse every time a team plays them close then so be it!! That was same excuse as to why Scott took 1 when they played! Ryle has plenty of real talent that is playing & those girls don't deserve having what they did on the court not count as important because the best player didn't play!! People that use excuses are obviously not 100% confident whether a parent or player!! I'm pretty sure everyone of BGP already knew A.Bush was injured & not playing so I didn't feel I needed to remind anyone!!

I also mentioned that once A. Bush was back playing, Ryle could be unstoppable!! So my guess is someone just didn't like the fact that Conner can play with the top teams!!! Last time I checked there were more than just 4 teams in the 9th Region, but you go ahead and believe that its impossible for anyone to topple those 4 teams!!

Not sure how excuses are being made, Ryle won 3-0 period, bottom line. Your the one that claims how competitive the 9th region will be with teams that are not even in the 9th region??? Now your saying someone is making excuses, you may want to make sure you have an idea what your talking about, there are people that know the volleyball talent around here, and obviously it is apparent some do not!! Ryle is 3-0, with or with out their best player, that is a decent record in my book and not sure why anyone would make excuses, guess they should win 25-0 when their best player comes back!! She is really good, but I don't think she is a miracle worker!!! Conner played very well, however no matter the score Ryle won 3-0. No stupid excuses please!!
