Kentucky Country Day 2014/2015

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2014/2015 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Kentucky Country Day. Remember, please be constructive.

I'd expect the Bearcats to be the best of the smaller schools in the Seventh again this year. They'll be the favorites to take the regional All 'A'.

Senior guard Malyiek McCray (son of UofL great Scooter McCray) and junior forward Colin Ferguson will be the keys to success... unless they've transferred... hard to keep track these days.

Went 17-11 last year and I'd expect something similar. They'll be just outside the group of the top ten for the region.

Totally agree with Getslow's assessment. Main loss will be Zach Lyles, who was a nice player. McCray and Ferguson coming back, along with point guard Anthony Mathis (he will be a sophmore), form a nice nucleus.

KCD won the All A Regional last year, and it would be a surprise if they did not repeat. I know they would like to take the next step up and be on a level with some of the bigger schools in the Seventh Region, but that may be tough for the Bearcats. They play Eastern early in the season (December 10); that should give some indication where they might stand in the Region.

^ Like Christian Academy, their district poses huge problems in trying to break through to the next level (which usually means a trip to the regional tournament). Stuck in that East End district with Ballard and Eastern makes it a seriously uphill battle with those two practically shoo-ins to make the Seventh Region tournament. Not to mention that CAL only seems to grow stronger every year.
