Per the Knox County Schools website, Voight will be introduced at a press conference Monday at 4pm. Voight led Dexter High School to the 2014 New Mexico class 2A state championship and is the son of Jimmy Voight who was hired as HC at Pulaski County High School in May.

Hope you don't mind hasbeen2, I changed the title of your post to add the (Jr.) because of the confusion about it being taken that his father, and current Pulaski County Coach, was the one who'd taken the Knox Central job.

If you're confused now between the two, I've tried to piece together some of the stops for each and hope that this is accurate, but it's late and I'm tired, so no one kill me if it isn't and we'll get it fixed.

 

Am I correct in stating that his father goes by Jimmy, graduated from Union College, has a resume that includes extensive experience in the collegiate ranks, and that James is his son, who likewise has extensive experience at the JUCO level (the New Mexico Junior College program's webpage had some pictures of kids signing with fairly big schools, and just based on the design and content they had, seemed to be a place that had a commitment to winning, especially for a school in the Southwestern US... not knocking the SW because I live here now myself, but youth basketball isn't really something that lots of places do nearly as well as Kentucky, but maybe I'm a little biased too).

Thanks for the help but I'm not sure that's correct. I read something about a grandfather also named Jimmy who coached. James Voight III may prove to be more accurate.

Nice, and thanks for the updates. How was the tenure at each of the schools? I'd be especially interested to know how the Whitley County one was given that it, like Knox Central, is one of the bigger schools in the 13th.

He had some good teams and always seemed to get a lot out of them. I remember picking him as coach of the year in the region once when his team overachieved.

I don't remember any of those teams doing a lot of damage in the regional tournament though. Of course, neither Whitley nor Pineville have done a lot of damage since he left, even though Pineville did have the big win over Corbin a few years ago.
