15 bucks a game/No thank you OHSAA/Columbus/state finals

Featured Replies

At 15 bucks a game, it looks like Columbus found a gigantic way of messing this up. I won't be attending, unless Newark Catholic makes it. The rest of the state will laugh at Columbus and the OHSAA for this.

Who wants to go to a huge crime infested place in the first place?

I know this is a Kentucky site, but had to post this sad but not unexpected news about the state final here moving to Columbus.

The cost of having the honor of watching a game at the home of Urban Meyer and The Ohio State University.:thumb:

When did Columbus get the finals?

Horseshoe or Crew Stadium?

New Jersey's tickets at MetLife Stadium are $15 for all 2 or 4 games (2 on Friday, 4 on Saturday). Parking was also $10. That seems high. But for all six games at the venue, that's $30 for 6 games. Texas holds 10 games in three days and the tickets are $15/day, or $4.50/game for the weekend. Pennsylvania is $8/ticket, but you get to re-enter the late game on the same ticket ($4/game). Minnesota was $12 for six games each day, or $2/game for the 12 games during the semifinals. Wisconsin was $8 for a one-time entry to the Thursday quadruple-header at Camp Randall Stadium ($2/game, or $10/day if you want in/out privileges). I can't remember Utah, but think it was $10 for the day for three games during the semifinals (6 games over three days at Rice-Eccles Stadium). Heinz Field hosts the PIAA WPIAL (District 7) championships, four games in one day, for $10, or $2.50/game. Ford Field in Detroit hosts eight games in two days for $10/day or $2.50/game. The most expensive tickets I've paid for were in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Dome. I only attended the two Friday games, but that ticket was $20 face value, or $10/ticket. I believe it was $20 if you attended the three Saturday games as well that year.

There's no way they're going to clear out the stadium between games. So, if you want to see all games, the minimum price would be $45 for 7 games ($15 Thursday, $15 Friday, and $15 Saturday). I saw their diagram for 'premium seating' for the $15, and it's laughable. Anyone who wants a good view of the field WILL NOT sit down that low. If you've been to the 'Shoe before, you know the lower level A and AA decks are sloped very shallow. To get a good view, you have to be about halfway up. Well above the 'premium seating'. And to think they're going to be able to enforce it is nuts. They're not going to have that many ushers there and people are going to do what they do in Canton and Massillon. Get to their 'section' and sit wherever they please. I don't see one instance where someone complains about someone else in their assigned seats in a 100,000+ venue.

Just want to focus on Minnesota. Since 2012(when MN went to 7 classes) there have been 3 days of Semifinals. 4 games on Thursday and 5 each on Friday and Saturday.(eliminated the 8 AM game when there were 6 games each day.) so for the Semi finals it was $3/game on Thursday and for the Fri/Sat games it was $2.40/game. The Finals were $12/day so with 4 games on Fri it was $3/game and 3 games on Sat it was $4/game. You could also get a Prep Bowl pass for $18 for all 7 games. It will diffrent this year since the Metrodome is gone(New Viking Stadium is being built at the same site) the semi finals are being played at various sites mostly in the Minneapolis/St Paul area but with some at St Cloud St. University( a city of about 50K about 75 miles NW of Minneapolis on Interstate 94) Games will be going on at the same time so you won't be able to go to all of the Semifinals as you have in the past when they were all played at the Metrodome. The finals are being played at TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota for the next two years and Ticket prices for 2014 have not been released yet.
