Schedule Accuracy and the Lack Thereof

Featured Replies

So I loaded up the kids last night (Mon) and headed over to Lloyd Memorial HS to watch what we thought was a 5pm game between Beechwood and Lloyd. After all, both the KHSAA and Beechwood websites had this game listed so who are we to question the accuracy.

On arrival at the Lloyd field there is a team that Lloyd is playing and unless Beechwood's new colors are green and yellow it ain't them. So we went back over to Beechwood thinking that maybe this was a home game. When we got up to the field there was game taking place but it was the freshman team and the varsity was coming out of their locker room from practice.

So my question to all if you in BGP world, is there anyway to verify the accuracy of these schedules and know when they are changing? This is not the first time I have run into this and it gets frustrating.

That is one reason I stopped going to games a long time ago, well I will go maybe once a year, usually the regionals. The solution is simple too, it only takes 2 minutes to post a change on a website, even faster on a team Twitter account.

I would assume that there is quite a bit logistically to schedule changes. Buses, Umps, and a host of other topics that I'm not considering. With the way the weather has been so far, I'm sure getting a game in is quite the challenge in itself.

If you want to see Highlands play, follow @HHSDirtyBirds on Twitter. It will keep you updated.

That said, scheduling, particularly this spring, is a nightmare.

I would agree that it seems that more and more teams, rather it be baseball or basketball, are using twitter to send their updates out.

Seems like that is about the only way to truly know what is going on.
