Fairdale's Gregg Longacre Announces Retirement

Featured Replies

Greg is done, wouldn't be shocked to see him as an AD soon. As far as Fairdale's feeders? There aren't any definitive feeders. Because of their magnet they are 1 of a handful of schools who can pull from outside their cluster and from any address. This has it's advantages and disadvantages. What killed Fairdale was losing everything the airport took. Southwick and some other areas over there fed Fairdale through those championships...Fairdale doesn't get the kids they used to. It's on the outside of the Snyder, and to Louisville kids that is a LONG way out to ride the activity bus home. Plus TARC doesn't have a stop anywhere near the school. Tougher situation than one would think.

True! Fairdale drew a lot of talent from the Cotterhomes/Southwick area. The housing was torn down and replaced with Mixed income housing and townhomes. Part of revitalizing Louisville. Fairdale has never rcovered the attendance. Closest TARC stop is the Walmart 3 miles away. Fairdale is one of a few Jefferson co schools that provide an ativity bus for transportation. Can still get the talent but it takes a lot of work. Coach Longacre got tired of that. Fairdale has a lot to offer in their program. Travel every year and treat kids right. They went to New Orleans over Christmas this year.
