DragonFire Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 All games played at Barren County High School Wednesday, March 5th -Bowling Green (24-6) vs. Franklin-Simpson (8-18) -Barren County (21-8) vs. Russell County (18-9) Thursday, March 6th -Clinton County (22-7) vs. Warren Central (22-5) -Russellville (11-18) vs. Monroe County (20-10)
DragonFire Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 This is the third straight year Clinton County got arguably the worst draw. Two years ago it was when they drew Glasgow, the unexpected loser of their district and preseason region favorites. They lost. Last year, they drew Barren County, a 20 win team and even had they won that, they were to play Warren Central in the semis, the region favorites. They lost to Barren County. And now they draw Warren Central, the region favorites that unexpectedly lost their district tournament. It's the worst first round game Warren Central could have drawn as well. On the plus side for each, they have a much more manageable semifinal game than what is expected for the other side. Bowling Green got the best first round game, but a Bowling Green semifinal vs. either Barren County or Russell County should be a strong test.
NEERFAN Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I thought the 4th played their tournament at Diddle?
BIG BLACK JACK Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I thought the 4th played their tournament at Diddle? Oh just another fight that occurred along with the school choice nonsense going on down there.
DragonFire Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 I thought the 4th played their tournament at Diddle? This is the first time in 10 years it won't be. It's only the sixth time since Diddle opened that all games will take place at another site. They couldn't get the necessary 12/17 votes from the ADs to pass a site selection plan (stalled on 11) and the commissioner placed the site at Barren County. They were going to have to play the first round at another site anyway due to WKU still having games during that week. They want to see what the financial difference will be at a high school site compared to playing at Diddle.
