Loved seeing Station's Daquice Allen hittin' the 3 on the 10 o'clock news. Quice, you take a mean picture, man!

 

Don't see the names Washington, Walker, or Claitt on Station's line. Did they play?

Allen might not be as talented as someone of the other kids (Washington has more talent and upside as a high school player whose scoring you build the team around), but Allen was my favorite Defender after seeing them in the Republic Bank Classic.

Really think that some small college who takes a roll of the dice on him is going to wind up getting a steal if he's the player I thought he was.

 

 

 

My analysis of Station:

Marcellous Washington -

Could see why he was so sought after by various AAU and HS programs when he was younger. Volume scorer in the mold of a Jason Terry/Russ Smith. When he's on, and by on I mean "making his shot", he's very hard to contain. Not really a protypical floor general, but Station is a small team full of quick guards, many of which can't shoot, and long, skinny, undersized posts who don't step out and knock down jumpers to keep the defense honest, so i's it's hard to say how he'd fit in other systems. I would never think of him as a "pass first"/facilitator type PG, but I could see him being an effective undersized two or a spark plug that provided instant offense off the bench.

 

CJ Walker-

Didn't get to see tons of him. Often get him confused with Jordan Henry. Two decent sized wings for Station who are athletic and bring lots of the same things to the table. Their talent is apparent when looking at them individually, but as a collaboration with their teammates, their marginal production over a different replacement could be called into question.

 

Claitt-

Kid who looked in the 6'2-6'3 range and didn't care about throwing his body around to get rebounds and playing at high speeds. Undersized post defender who fought for most of what he had and could use his springs to raise up and challenge shots when he got the chance to set his feet and elevate. Really wondered about his understanding of the game/game-plan as a whole, as he didn't play under control very often at all. Obviously, he was a warrior who'd show heart in doing a lot of the dirty work due to his being one of the taller players and not having the guard skills to play any other positions effectively.

 

Daquice Allen-

Best college talent on this team? Not by a long shot. Best college fit for some small school who'll see him come in, work his tail off, and do all he can to help his team be successful? Certainly.

 

That's just my opinion. If I'm a school like Asbury, Berea, Campbellsville, etc. will find a place for him. I think that one day, he's going to make a coach somewhere look smart for taking a flyer on him.
