Final from West Jessamine.

Huge win for Mercer.

They played great team ball tonight. Big win

Polson had his jersey retired tonight. The entire UK team was on hand.

Very well deserved honor for Polson, but the timing sure didn't work out very well for W-Jess did it?

A much needed win for Mercer - and a quality win, especially being at West. If they can get their chemistry right, this could be the start of a move in the right direction enablng them to live up to their pre-season top 4/5 regional ranking. They have the talent, now we'll see if they are able to leverage this as a turning point. We will know soon as they play at Boyle and host East Jessamine at home over their next 2 games.

How do you think mercer does against boyle and east next week.

Well, it should be much more difficult for Mercer to win at West than to beat East at home. So, they've demonstrated what they are capable of, they just have to be consistent now. Also, at least on paper, the match-ups are better for Mercer against East than against West. That said, East seems to continue to find ways to win. They are much, much better than anticipated. What I know for sure is that the 46th district tourney will be less predictable than in recent years!

As for the game at Boyle, that one is more difficult - but not more difficult than winning at West IMO. I see Boyle and West as the same level of team - with those 2 competing for being the third best team in the region right now - along with Southwest. Mercer and Boyle are very different teams with very different strengths (and weaknesses). It will be intersting to see how that plays out. So, if Mercer plays like they did at West/up to their potential, it will likely come down to the last couple minutes. But, if they play like they did for a few games leading up to the West game, Mercer will be in trouble. Boyle is tough, even more so at their place.
