Anybody with a scouting report on Fairfield?

I know Devyn Walker and Herman Brunis are solid and should keep this one close.

Very well coached, physical and hard-nosed, will probably be a rock fight. I don't think CovCath wants a half-court slug-fest with them, so I assume you'll see CovCath try to heat up the Fairfield guards and get the game into the open court with as much pace as they can muster. However, as I mentioned above, Fairfield is extremely well coached, so they'll be ready for that.

I would expect a CovCath narrow victory, with a game played in the 50's or 60's. Fairfield only averages 56 points per game, and only gives up 49. No one has scored more than 65 against them, and that was AT Middletown. This will definitely be a slobber-knocker.

I wouldn't expect a big crowd for these games. Everyone will be in Dayton at the Flyin to the hoop event

Fairfield hosting Royal 8 Classic

FAIRFIELD — The Royal 8 Hardwood Classic is back at Fairfield High School this year.

The eight-team boys basketball tournament representing four area leagues and northern Kentucky will kick into high gear Friday, highlighted by unbeaten Covington (Ky.) Catholic vs. Fairfield.

“They’re just like a (Greater Catholic League) school,” Indians coach Tim Austing said of the 13-0 Colonels. “They shoot it exceptionally well. They’ve got a bunch of experienced guards that are really good passers, handlers and shooters.

“They’re one of the top teams in the tri-state, but that’s what we wanted. We’re trying to play the best teams we can find that will make us better.”
