42-39 SH heading into 4th

Wheels started to come loose, then some fire was lit under SH after Ruffin T'd up and they didn't look back. Pandas had some chances & it wasn't meant to be tonight.

 

Ruffin had 20pts, Merriweather 19

Hellman 10, Ogle, Clemons & Kellam 8, Smith 13

Good outing for Pandas, Ogle's first game back with a little rust, and Kellam could only go 14 minutes (flu). NDA gambled too much for steals and gave them easy buckets down the stretch. NDA looks to be gearing up for the stretch run. If they can be more disciplined on defense and limit turnovers they will be tough at tourney time. Their zone was effective in first half. The second half they played mostly man which let Ruffin loose.

I was impressed with Notre Dame's discipline in many facets of the game. They did a good job in the first half of handling SHA press by patiently passing the ball up the floor utilizing their height advantage. ND looked to me like they were losing energy after half time, which is probably due to the three players coming back from sickness and injury.

 

SHA did a good job of staying out of foul trouble in the first half and keeping the score close. Ruffin and Merriweather are tough to contain for 4 quarters and when we start hitting shots from the perimeter it causes problems for the defense. Ruffin and Samsel started hitting threes, thus forcing ND to extend it's defense.

Good production across the board with the main 4 starters.

 

ND will be a team to be reckoned with when their starting unit gets back their chemistry. I don't want to play them again this year!

There's always wishful thinking, NCC is better from what I saw.

NCC has games when they cannot throw it in the ocean and then they have games where they cannot miss. ND will be the more consistent team by Region time but it is wide open. ND, NCC, Highlands, Holmes, Holy Cross, (one 35th team won't make it) and even Conner is not out of the question.

Plus you never know come Region time.......someone might hold the ball the whole game again.

This probably for another thread, but a shot clock wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Anything can happen in regionals, but NCC is the best team I've seen in the 9th
