Potential WALTER Headlines In His 9th Region Preview

Featured Replies

Bob Huggins said he think Elijah could play in the league and be successful at the 3. Would be surprised if he's not in the league.

"Dude is 6'9 and can stroke from outside."

Normally it's a bit jumping the gun while watching a high school player and predicting that he'll go pro some day, but the very first time I ever saw Elijah Pittman enter a varsity game as a sub, my first thought in my head was "future pro", and he was just waiting on the sideline to be buzzed in. He hadn't even touched the ball yet. This thought rarely, if ever, goes through my mind about a high school player, and certainly not until I see what he's made of.

I just saw a wing span for such a youngster that you don't see everyday, as it also indicated more room to grow. He also had a certain cocky confidence on his face that said "This is just the beginning, but I'm going all the way" It's still buried in my mind and me thinking "There's one to watch", and "I sure hope you back up that look in the eye"

Maybe Walter can confirm this, but if my memory is working properly, he first played varsity as a sophomore, and my mind's eye is thinking that my first time of seeing him was in the 9th Region Final against CovCath @ Conner in 2008 in a solid red uniform?

Throughout the rest of his high school career I was impressed, but at times would second guess my first prediction when he'd jack up ill advised 3 attempts at sometimes wrong points of a game. He had a good stroke for a big guy, but the setup and release was a bit slow. He of course had certain natural abilities, but I would question sometimes his knowledge of the game. There were certainly smarter and better high school players that I've seen over the years, but he still just had that something that said he had what it takes, and with a bit more strength and maturity, it was gonna happen.

Well I'm very pleased now to see that he has grown in many ways with his game, very much coming into his own, and has stuck out his college time, and now has a very good chance of taking it to the next level.

Good job young man! You've got a lot to be proud of, and you're making the 9th Region very proud of you as well. Keep up the hard work, and see that dream of yours, and ours come true. :thumb:
