Beechwood 14 Newport Central Catholic 0 (JV)

Recommended Posts

It was one of the sloppier games for the Beechwood JV. Too many mistakes and turnovers but the Tigers fought through it all to get the win. Beechwood lost a fumble; threw an interception; had a ball hit someone on the return team to give NCC the ball at the 16 (defense stopped them from scoring); had an Erdman 40 yard TD run called back for holding; had another long run by Erdman called back for holding; and more. Nice job overcoming all that to get the win.

The defense did a very good job all day and the Breds never threatened except on the turnover that gave them the ball 16 yards from the end zone. Half the Thoroughbred possessions were 3 and outs. The Tigers did not throw the ball much in this one. It was cold and windy so they stuck to the ground game. Casey Erdman had a big game running the ball. Here is the scoring summary:

Q1

No scores; 0-0

Q2

7:02 Beechwood - QB Grant Plageman to Clay McHugh 4 yard TD pass; XP no good; BW 6-0

Q3

1:13 Beechwood - Erdman 46 yard TD run; 2 pt. pass by Erdman to Jared Sletto; BW 14-0

Q4

No scoring

FINAL Beechwood 14 Newport Central Catholic 0

Beechwood JV ends the season with a 6-2 record. Nice year and definitely a lot of players who are going to be big contributors on varsity next year.

Final . Tigers JV finish the year 7-2.

I have the JV at 6-2. Am I missing a game? Here is the breakdown:

Simon Kenton 37 BW 20

BW 21 Dixie 6

BW 26 Ryle 20

BW 24 Campbell Co. 6

Cov Cath 22 BW 15

BW 42 Conner 6

BW 27 Cooper 0

BW 14 New Cath 0

There was a bye on September 14. Did they play someone that week? If not, then the record is 6-2.
