Speaking of a place not to be if somthing goes bad, it is also adjacent the New Mardird Bend and well that is a famous place for being on a huge fault line. It is where the famous earthquake of 1812 occurred that caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards and formed nearby Reelfoot Lake

 

I've had that conversation with people before. We actually drove out to the Bend when I was in elementary school and talked about doing it again some time. But if you were there when an earthquake hit, you'd basically just drop into the Mississippi River and float up in New Orleans in a few weeks!
