Big game for both teams. Not too many years ago everyone would have assumed Russell (4-3) would run away with this game, but the last few years the Lions (5-2) have made it interesting. Lewis County got their first win versus the Red Devils ever two years ago. Last year, Russell won 33-18. This year sees a Russell team that started the year with no clear playmaker just to go and put on a Wing T clinic versus a much improved West Carter team. To anyone paying attention, Lewis County has proven they are for real and wanting to win.

Score comparison:

……………………………..Russell………….Lewis County

Greenup County……W 14-8…………….W 26-20

Fleming County….…W 52-18…………..W 34-7

Mason County……….L 28-6………………L 50-19

Who wins this District matchup?

Russell 34-21.

I get tired of hearing every year that "Russell is down this year." Russell is always going to be a solid team because they don't vary from what they do from top to bottom (i.e. excellent youth program). I have a lot of respect for Russell and Coach McGlone, but at Lewis County, we go into every game expecting to win, so let's Roll Pride!

Lewis wins a close one.

OLine, you are correct about Russell being a solid program. I think all the talk about that was in the last few years their fans were blasting them bc they weren't having as good of seasons that they had years ago.

I will say this, Russell Red Devil fans are some of the most bandwagon/ "what have you done for me lately" fans that I have ever seen. When Russell is winning big, having a great year they are everywhere claiming how they support them all the way. Let them lose some games and you can't find a Russell fan , you can count on that.

I am predicting a Russell win but rest assured I am pulling for the Lions.

Russell 31

Lewis Co. 20

Lewis Co. had better be careful, should you beat them too much they will drop you. :sssh:
