Garrard moved to 2-0 in district play with an easy win over Powell County tonight. The Lions had a 17-0 halftime lead, while piling up 285 yards to Powell County's 10 but had struggled to score in the red zone. If Garrard had converted it likely would have been close to a first half running clock. Garrard really took the air out of the ball in the second half and ground their way to a victory.

 

I really felt for Powell County tonight. They got off to such a good start this season but were without their starting quarterback due to a hand injury last week. Their offense works really well with a good catalyst but you could tell their backup just didn't have the experience. On the defensive side, Powell was pretty strong up front and knocked Garrard around some on the line of scrimmage.

 

Garrard now heads to Bourbon County next Friday night with first place in the district on the line.

Powell needs to beat Western Hills and Bath County to go to the playoffs. If they lose one of those games then they are out.

Yes, and he was all over the field. Really nice player, especially on defense. He did leave in the 4th, holding his arm, but I think he came back in.
