In 2012 it was Caldwell vs. Newport Cath

In 2011 it was Glasgow vs. Holy Cross

In 2010 it was Owensboro Catholic vs. Newport Cath

In 2009 it was Ft. Campbell vs. Desales

It is the nature of the beast. When you get a winning program in place, you keep winning.

I know Trinity folks sound like a broken record. The Rocks had two very close games in the playoffs last year, beating X by one and scoring three times in final 8 minutes to overtake Scott Co. In years past, there are usually one or two close games that hinge on one or two plays in the playoffs. Nick Petrino beating Male as Beaumont fails to see the ball the final two plays from inside the three yard line. Brohm beating St. X 17-14 in his last game. Brohm and company beating Michael Bush by three the season before. Back in the day losses to Butler 7-0 (1979) and Ballard 17-14 kept Trinity from claiming the crown. Southern beat Trinity on a long TD pass late in the game in the 82. St X beat Trinity 3-0 and 11-10 as they won championships back-back in 1974 and 1975......Bill Glaser's undefeated seasons and last time St X won consecutive football titles. I am doing this from memory. My "Trinity football bible" is at home.

 

Beatty has his teams believing they can overcome any deficit. Ensworth got Trinity.....the Rocks had their chances down the wire....as I fan and supporter, that's all I can hope for. As long as Trinity is in the hunt at the end of the year for a title, I am very happy. To quote Mr. Beatty, "This never gets old!".

 

It is OK to have teams to "hate" because of their extreme success. The Dallas Cowboys, UCLA basketball back in the day, Duke basketball, the SEC in general :angrybird2:in football...it gives teams something more to strive for. I never expected a run like Trinity has had over the past decade. I am certainly enjoying the ride and now my son, who attends Trinity, shares my passion for following the football team.

 

My professional favorites were good when I was a child and I refuse to switch teams... the Reds, the Vikings, the Knicks...... 1990, never, and 1973 were their last titles. I am a fan of UK and U of L and they have both enjoyed more success recently.... I give thanks often for being a part of the Trinity community. It keeps me out of trouble!
