Scott takes down Brossart 1-0 at Pendery Fields. Brossart has multiple opportunities to score but could not capitalize against Scott's relentless defense. Scott scored early in the first half and held on for the win. Congrats to the Eagles. Mustangs need to right the ship and get back on the winning track quickly.

Goal was scored by Blake Schneider( I believe his 8th on the season.). Shutout for CJ Seay.

Since it was such a lovely evening I thought I would head to Campbell County's pride and joy Pendry park. :isurrender: If it was not for Campbell County Knothole and the Combs family you would have either a corn field or a dust bowl. The land was given to the county and the only improvement they have done is put a sign on the front with the county commissioners names on it. I've been to most parks in Boone and Kenton and Pendry is an absolute embarrassment.

Enough of that tirade and on to the game--at the dust bowl. Brossart attacked early and had some great looks but misfired or Scott's goalie made some nice saves. Brossart totally dominated the first half, but Schneider's goal gave Scott the lead at half. Both teams have some super quick kids. The second half was a much closer game and I still would have given the edge to Brossart, just on pure shots on goal. Scott's D did a great job of stopping and clearing the ball when they needed to. Even in the last few minutes of the game when Brossart had a "power play" due to 2 yellow cards issued to a Scott player.

I was told that the game last year was rather chippy, so Mel brought in extra security to maintain the peace. The fans were well behaved and both schools had a small kids based fan section as well. There were several yellow cards and a few kids that were taken down, but nothing too crazy except for one issue that was right in front of me. I'm still trying to figure out if side line judges are like rent a cops. Do they just get all dressed up, but have no authority? I watched a kid throw down a player, when the kid got up, pushed him again, than by the time the head official got to him, he pushed yet another kid (all of this in front of the side judge) and it ended with dueling yellow cards.

As I walked out and said goodbye to all of the folks who were shocked I was there, the sun had already set behind the trees and the Brossart JV squad had already scored 2 quick goals. I'm sure they were lucky to get a half completed since Pendry does not have lights. Not sure of that partial or final score.

Overall a fun night, glad to see so many kids that I have seen grow up, out on the soccer field for their senior season. Both teams have speedy aggressive players and will continue to win their fair share of games.

I personally think this one depends on two items....

 

1. does the center tell the lin....er "Asst Ref's" that they will run the game.......or

2. Asst Ref's think they are the center and try to call everything........

 

Either way, most of the time you get one that will call eveything on one sude and one that only calls off sides and out of bounds on the other.

 

Either way is fine with me as long as there is consistency.

True on all accounts of the Pendery Park situation. You have to be very careful backing your boat down the promised, but never delivered, boat ramp.
