A couple of future Bowling Green opponents

Featured Replies

On 9/20, the Purples travel south to Chattanooga to take on McCallie School. McCallie is a very good DII private school that play in the same division as Ensworth, MBA, Brentwood Academy, etc. They are currently 2-0 vs 2 ranked public school teams and host district opponent Pope John Paul II, this week and then travel to 6A power Seigal the following week. McCallie's strength rank is currently #1 with a schedule rank at #5. These next 2 games will tell a lot about what this team actually has this year. The Blue Tornado take on district rival Ensworth the week following the Bowling Green game. From what I've read about McCallie this year, they aren't real big in the trnches, but, are quick up front and have speed to burn at all positions. They finished 5-6 overall and 3-4 in district games last year and return 9 offensive starters and 6 defensive starters from 2012. They're expecting to have a much better season in 2013. This will be a good test for the Purples.

On 11/1, The Purples end there regular season by hosting 6A power Blackman, out of Murfreesboro, Tn.. This team was 8-4 overall, 3-2 in district, in what most knowledgeable Tn Hs football fans consider one of the toughest districts in the state, with teams like Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel, Smyrna, playing in it. This team knocked off traditional power, Riverdale, last year, 20-16. That's the same team that beat St X last year. They were knocked out of the playoffs by Seigel in the 2nd round last year. Thus far this year, the Blaze are 2-0, with wins over a ranked Seigel team 41-21 in week 1, avenging last years playoff loss and then beat a tough Brentwood team 38-28, last week. They host Riverdale this week, so, that will be one to keep an eye on. They follow that up with another 6A non-district Mt Juliet, who made the semi-finals in 6a last year, losing to eventual champion Memphis Whitehaven 41-35. finishing 12-2 on the year. This will be another one to keep an eye on. Blackman is known for it's athletic teams and have size to boot. They have several D1 prospects on there team, as well. This should be another stern test for the Purples.

Just wanted to pass on this information, for anyone who may be interested.

Thanks MHSCardinal. Everyone talked so much about our weak schedule. These two teams don't look like pushovers, by any means. I thought St. X would be our toughest game this year, but I'm not so sure now. Looks like this Purple team will be tested several times this year.

I read that stuff, too. That's why I wanted to get this info out there, because the people saying these things obviously don't know much about these 2 teams. I think Blackman will be the tougher of the 2, but, McCallie's no stranger to playing great competition and have held there own more times than not.

Good info to have right here. Thank you Sir:thumb:
