I can't say I saw either result from the Rivals Bowl coming. I think I was even more shocked at this result than I was Warren Central's, and I was SHOCKED by Warren Central's.

 

Some stats to measure the magnitude of this win for Hoptown:

 

-Snaps a 3 game losing streak.

-First win in season opener since 31-20 victory over Tilghman in 2010.

-Least points allowed since a 28-6 victory over Madisonville-North Hopkins in 2006. Have to go back to a shutout of Pendleton County that same year to find less.

-Largest margin of victory since a 47-12 win vs. Ohio County in 2009.

-First time allowing single digits since a 7-6 loss to Owensboro in 2010.

 

Greenwood fails to score into the double digits for the first time since a 20-6 loss in their 2011 season opener against Mayfield. In so doing, they drop Chris Seabolt's debut as the Gator head coach. Of the five coaches in the history of Greenwood, only Seabolt's predecessor Greg Cavanah won his debut game.
