Beechwood looked much better in scrimmage #2. The offense was much more in sync and the defense played very well. This scrimmage was played in real game conditions. Beechwood was in control pretty much the whole game. It was 33-0 at halftime and then Beechwood scored on their first possession of the second half to get it to 40-0 and a running clock. Varsity played 3 quarters.

 

Fieger looked sharp throwing the ball and had two TD passes and no interceptions. Mitch Thomas had 2 TD runs and over 100 yards rushing on just 6 carries. Stringer showed his speed on a 6 yard TD run on a sweep and then a 56 yard TD reception from Fieger. Slusher had a nice TD reception of 18 yards.

 

The JV played the 4th quarter. Beechwood was in even more control in the JV portion of the scrimmage, outscoring Goshen 21-0.

 

It was a good night for Beechwood. No injuries. They looked to be ready for next week's challenge versus Lima OH Senior, an Ohio Division 2 school.

It looked like a big improvement from the Conner scrimmage. Goshen is not nearly as good a team as Conner so give Conner credit, but the Tigers were definitely improved. Beechwood is very deep for a 1A school. They are playing a lot of players, rotating them in. I thought they were working on things and seeing how different players look, but there is virtually no drop off in play in the rotations. I think we are going to see that during the regular season. There are a lot of fast, good skill players. I am excited about this team's potential.
