The Pulaski County Maroons make the short trip across the bypass to take on the Somerset Briar Jumpers in the nightcap of the Ray Correll Bowl. The Maroons are coming off of a 9-4 season that saw them win their district before falling to Harlan County in the Regional Championship. Somerset finished 11-3 and won its 4th straight District and Regional Championships. Both teams return a lot of starters and have high expectations for the season. Somerset leads the all-time series vs. the Maroons 14-6. Who wins this matchup and why?

When Somerset and Pulaski meet on the field it is always a good game. SHS has won the last 2 meeting 33-20 in 2011 and 18-12 in 2009. Pulaski's last win over the Jumpers came in 2007 with a score of 62-49. The community is looking forward to seeing the freshman phenom Doan step on the field for the Jumpers, but the senior experience of Lange, who is out with an injury, will be missed in this rivalry game. I experct this game to be more of a high scoroing match up with the Jumpers edging the Maroons 42-35.

Prayers go out to the Maroon Family for the loss of your athletic director, Randy Elmore, today...

I know he fought a long and hard fight and has been and will continue to be an inspiration to us all.

We may be rivals on the field, but off of it we are all family around here.

Terrible news about Randy Elmore. He'll be missed by all in the community.

I've got a bad feeling about this one. Pulaski 28, Somerset 27.

Me too, can you imagine how hard our boys would play if we'd lost our AD? Hoping for a good game and no injuries.
