I hope the team gets to participate. It would certainly be a morale boost for the school and community if they were able to play, win or lose.

 

MORGANFIELD, Ky. — Union County has canceled its final two softball games of the regular season but will attempt to play in next week’s Sixth District Tournament.

 

The Bravettes, who were involved in a bus crash on Friday in Livingston County, don’t have enough healthy players to field a team right now, athletic director Jeremy Tackett said.

 

Four players have broken bones and are out for the remainder of the season. Other players are suffering from sprained ankles and wrists, soreness, cuts and bruises. “There’s no way they can play softball right now,” he said.

 

The district tournament is scheduled to start Monday at Henderson County but could be delayed a couple of days to give the Union County players more time to heal. “We’re working with Henderson County and Webster County to move the tournament back,” Tackett said. “If we can get nine players healthy, no matter what grade they are, then we will play in the district tournament.”

 

The Bravettes are scheduled to face Webster County in the first round. They had regular season games scheduled with Daviess County on Thursday and at Christian County on Friday.

 

Twenty-eight people, including four adults, were on the bus that crashed on U.S. 60 Friday en route to a game at Livingston Central.

 

Officials said 25 of those on the bus were transported to hospitals in Paducah for treatment.

 

The state police said the accident occurred about three miles east of Smithland when the bus ran off the shoulder of the road, then swerved to the other side of the road, rotating 180 degrees before rolling onto its side on the eastbound side of the road.

From what I heard today; their tournament has been moved back and will start on Wednesday. Wish them the best.

Please keep our girls (UCHS Softball team) and coaches in your prayers. They will be getting on a bus for the first time as a team today @ 10:45. They are going to take a small trip out to lunch to try and get the bus fear behind them. Also pray for the bus driver involved in the wreck (I took out the drivers name), the team asked her if she would drive their bus today.
