The Campbell County Camels earned the 37th District top seed with an 8-0 win over district rival Bishop Brossart. Campbell has now beaten Brossart, Scott, and Silver Grove to sweep district competiton.

Campbell County will play Silver Grove, while Brossart and Scott will duke it out in the upcoming 37th District tournament.

In today's game, Campbell County jumped on Jon Geiman, the Brossart starter, for 4 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Rob Franzen was the Camels' starter and winner, allowing but 2 hits in 6 innings of work (Clay Kramer and Jake Bauman). He issued 3 walks, two to Zach Martin, and struck out 6. Perrin came on in relief for the Camels in the seventh and sat the Mustangs down in order while striking out one.

Geiman allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, including a three-run double by Walsh. He walked one, and did not strike out a Camel. He yielded to Jake Bauman in the bottom of the sixth who gave up four runs including a bases loaded double by Eblin.

In the freshmen game, Campbell County outlasted Brossart 11-10 in ten innings. The JV game was just beginning at 5:15pm.

Thanks!

Nice win for the Camels. Franzen pitched a real nice game. Walsh and Kremer were very impressive in the field and at the plate. Got to see some big defensive plays on both sides. Kremer had 3 diving stops, Walsh made some nice plays. Verst, for BROSSART, made a fantastic play on a ball up the middle that took a tricky hop. He bare handed it and threw to 1st to get the out. I noticed Norton was swinging a wooden bat all game. Has he been doing this all year?

Yes. Nate Verst was earlier this season. Didn't notice yesterday if he still is or not.

Agree on the fine defensive plays. Kremer was definitely doing his best Brooks Robinson imitation in the hot corner.

How is Franzen playing? It seems like when I read a CC box very little publicity for this one? He has been on the mound in some key games.

1st time I saw them play this year. Franzen pitched real well, seemed like he got tired in the 5th and walked a couple guys but got out of the inning with no damage. He stroked the ball at the plate also. I was told that was the best the Camels looked all year.
