Louisville, KY – Trinity High School has named Mike Brumfield as varsity head coach for the golf team. He succeeds Steven Tompkins, who stepped down after a successful stint as head coach.

Coach Brumfield was a four-year letterman in golf in high school at Elizabethtown High School and followed that as a four-year star at Morehead State University.

His accomplishments at MSU include:

- 1991-93 named team captain

- Individual and team championships in 1993

- Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 1993

- Low amateur in the 1993 Kentucky Open, placing fourth

Brumfield is also in the Morehead State Hall of Fame for golf. In addition to his collegiate prowess, Brumfield also is a 10-time men’s individual champion at Elizabethtown Country Club, five-time champion at Woodhaven Country Club, was the 2012 individual champion at Standard Country Club and won the 2012 Glasgow Country Club Invitational.

“Trinity High School has such a great reputation in this community and across the state,” Brumfield said. “I think the most important thing these young men are getting is a great education, and golf can be an important part of the total package. I look forward to the challenge.”

Assisting Coach Brumfield will be Joe Frederick ’88, Pat Barry, Dave Peege ’81 and Chris Toth ’06.

[h=2]Founded in 1953, Trinity is an all-male Catholic high school with 1,300 students and more than 14,250 alumni. Its mission is to provide students with a superior high school education in a supportive atmosphere based upon Christian values in the Catholic tradition.[/h]

Don't know if Mike can coach or not but he can sure hit the golf ball!!
