Lawnboy13
My daughter and I took in the NKU/East Tennessee State game today, in part because of wanting to see former Conner HS player, sophomore KC Straley. Straley, in her 1st year with the Norse after playing last season for Louisville, is the Norse starting centerfielder. As usual she didn't not disappoint today, both at the plate and in the field. She led off the game with a slap single in the hole between 1st & 2nd, this after slapping one that just went foul down the leftfield line. Her next AB she bunts and the ball goes over the charging 1st basemans head and lands a foot next to the 1st base bag, KC slides into 1st to beat the covering 2nd baseman (trust me, my description does this play ZERO justice as it was pure hustle on KC's part, plus the bunt over the 1st basemans head was a thing of beauty. Her next AB she slaps a chopper back to the pitcher that is two steps towards the 3rd base side and Straley beats the throw. Her last AB she slaps one to short and would of easily beat it out, but SS got the force at 2nd. In the field she made 2 diving/sliding catches on balls that were sinking liners, nothing more than pure hustle as well as being able to judge a ball. She, was and still is, one of the fastest to play the game from this area and she is still a pleasure to watch.

JMU31
That's awesome for her and NKU, they have struggled big time with the jump to D1. Seemed like KC got in about every game to run last year for UL so yes the girl can fly.
blueandblack14
Former Shelby County player Dee Dee Davis is also having a great season at NKU. She leads the team in batting average (.288, .333 in conference), slugging percentage (.472), hits (36), RBI (16), doubles (10), triples (2), and went 7-for-16 (.438) with five doubles, one home run, three RBI and four runs scored this past week. She is a junior and has started every game of her career. It's nice seeing Kentucky girls succeed at the next level and the Norse pick up some wins in their first season of Division 1. Michelle Carson, Dana Jarboe, and Katelyn Roy are other Kentucky girls that are having good seasons for NKU.
