Another great outing and complete game for Kuebbing and the St Henry Crusaders. Kuebbing came out slow but as usual rallied and went the complete game against a tuff Highlands club. Kuebbing gets stronger and more accurcate with all of his pitches as the games gones on. One of the best pitchers in the region without doubt.

 

Game was all tied in the 6th until St H Rogers / SS hit a right field bomb to the fence for a double and then scored on a pass ball. Then the hits began. With bases loaded Tony LaCorte hit a base clearing center field bomb and cleared the bases with a stand up double.

 

Kuebbing came in and finished a great game for the Crusaders.

 

These kids have heart, pithcing and bats. Good solid combination.

Congrats to Mitch Kuebbing on yet another gutsy performance against a very good Highlands team. Mitch is a very talented young man.

 

Also congrats to Tony LaCorte who notched rbi's 23, 24 & 25 on the season in the bottom of the 6th.

 

Congrats to all the boys of STH for bouncing back from a tough loss with 2 impressive wins.

Gonna have to move Kuebbing up from my pre-season list.

1st and 6th innings were the keys here. Birds needed to get more than 1 off Kuebbing. SR Molina walked on 4 pitches. SR Seidl beat out a sac bunt for a single. After a fly out to RF, SR Schultz coaxed another walk to load the bases with 1 out. SR Murray crushed a drive to left CF but it held up and was only a sac fly. A ground out ended the inning. Chance missed.

 

St. Henry hit the ball hard B1 and pushed across 2 runs. Walk (Youngwirth), 2B (Kuebbing) & 1B (LaCorte) plated 2.

 

SO Martin settled in after that and worked effectively. He was helped B3 by a nice throw from RF SR Seidl to cut down Youngwirth trying to tag and score from 3B.

 

B5, St. Henry plated 1 on a walk (Conradi), HBP (Baumann) (8 & 9 in the order) and then a single by Youngwirth.

 

JR Allen started T6 with a double to right CF. After a K, SR Murray singled Allen in and advanced around to 3B on a throwing error. SO Whitford brought him in with a single to tie the game.

 

B6, Rogers doubled, advanced to 3B on a balk (pitcher's cleats caught in mound), Rose reached 1B on an error by the 3B that kept Rogers at 3B, 1st & 3rd w/ no outs. Pickoff attempt by C after a 3rd strike goes into LF, scoring Rogers and moving Rose to 3B. Baumann (9th batter) is walked. After a K to get the 2nd out, Kuebbing is intentionally walked to load the bases. (Pick your poison at that point. Putting Kuebbing on doesn't change the game much as he is the 7th run in B6 and allows a force at each base.) Big AB is the double to the wall by LaCorte that clears the bases with 2 outs.
