Is it me or are there more teams taking off during spring break this year than in years past. With most the fish eaters being off this past week and most the public schools off this coming week it seems to have slowed the softball in the area.

Highlands will have gone ten days between games.

jefferson county was off this week, and a few teams went south, but most stayed home. There were a few tournaments and even regular one on one games around here.

For girls in spring sports, spring break should start June 6 th.

Just returned from a spring break trip and it also seems many more families are traveling this break. Warmth of a beach or the mud at home plate.....hmmmm.

IMHO this is a complete joke (not playing over spring break). When's the last time football teams took a week off because of fall break???? At the present time Fastpitch is nothing more than "the red-headed stepchild" when it comes to girls high school sports, especially in NKY. Volleyball, Basketball, and the Communist sport of Soccer are all ahead. Wait 6 more weeks and when the softball season is over and school is out you can travel to your hearts content, until then you are part of a team and that team should NOT be held gameless over spring break because of spring break travels. There is no better time to get a multitude of games in over a one week span. Until everyone involved, coaches, players, parents, school administrations, etc.....start taking this sport serious, NKY girls fastpitch as a whole will continue to be the equivalent of a very nice rec-league. Don't get me wrong, some to it right, but as a whole.............:no:

I agree with everything, to take it a step farther it would be great if more teams could do what Brossart did over spring break. A lot better chance for the girls to get several games in and they would get a trip that they would remember forever. Yes it would cost money and some schools could pull in off easier than others but it wouldn't take that much work to pull it off at least every other year.

AMEN!!! I tell my girls that soccer is the Communist sport and Volleyball is a socialist sport. There is no respect for school teams sports by the clubs....yes, when can discuss scholarships, exposure, etc... You either sign up to play for your school or not.

I agree with the high lighted part but at Holy Cross we wouldn't be able to field a team if that was the case.

 

Being at a Catholic school seems to make matters worse. They do rank the country club sports way ahead of softball at most schools and when your not a member of the country club like me it can be frustrating.

I hope this is the last Spring Break without softball my DD sees! Its like taking a weeks vacation in middle of season! Hopefully Highlands goes to Myrtle Beach next year or somewhere warmer and play about 6 games and makes it an annual trip. I believe coach C has told them no more spring breaks without softball, but since he got the job late and some already had plans he allowed them to go this year.
