Scrimmages?

Featured Replies

Highland is at Conner Saturday at 11:00 for a varsity JV scrimmage

Is this scrimmage still by chance on for tomorrow? Even though this is just a scrimmage I wouldn't mind stopping by to see this one. I have the softball fever I guess.

Certainly is different from school to school. We haven't had a Soccer/Softball player in the last 10 years. Don't think it would make a considerable difference for travel ball either, Georgia plays their high school ball in the fall and I would guess they probably have at least 5 times the amount of college softball players as us.

I wouldn't be against them moving to the fall but the one big disadvantage would be playing state tourney in mid to late Oct. That might cause all kinds of problems and almost zero room to push games back in case of weather.

As of right now it is still on. If cancelled I will try to post.

Great, thanks.

I saw an extended forcast for the rest of March and it looked like we were only going to have a couple of days in the low 60's and the rest are 40's and 50's for highs. Could be a slow start to the season.

As long as it's dry, I think we all can deal with it.

Male ended up 3-1 today in TN at the Beech Play Day today.

Sounds like fun, how was the tourney?

cram packed....I think 40 teams, 12 fields...hour-fifteen drop dead games, so everyone was able to squeeze two opponents into their 3 hour allotment (think TN is like KY in that regard)...girls came out tight as a drum, plus had to play Beech (#4 ranked in TN) right off the bat at 830...gave up 4 unearned in 1st inning, 3 more unearned in 2nd, then settled in...lost 7-3, but only gave up 3 more runs rest of day after that 2nd inning....pitching looked strong and deep with only 2 earned runs in 4 games, and I was impressed by some of the younger girls, I'd never seen play before....think it's gonna be a fun season.

It was great doing it like that 'cause it gives the coaches a chance to uncover a lot of things to work on all at once on one day...TN, AL, GA they're all so far advanced over KY when it comes to fastpitch....and good news is no players, parents or coaches were murdered!!

I am guessing their parents weren't messing around. Either way sounds like it was a blast, would love to be able to do something like this in HS.

If a guy in Louisville thinks those states are far more advanced in softball than KY I wonder what someone up here in NKY would think bc Louisville as a whole is far more advanced than NKY.

I would say a big part of that has to do with the weather, and being able to play more months out of the year. :idunno:

I think that has a little to do with it, they have been playing it longer have better coaching as a whole, you can go to any of those states and find real nice fastpitch softball complexes only. They have alot better travel org's. Just a different mind set about the sport in general.

I would agree, but if we had the weather that say Georgia, Florida, & Alabama had, I would think we could slowly be progressing into the realm you stated above........Yes???......Maybe???
