Schedule (at Lexington Christian Academy)

 

Monday – Lexington Christian Academy (10-16) vs. Tates Creek (6-21) … In a 5-team district, the winner of this game play into top seed Lexington Catholic. The team’s split their regular season matchups, which was the only win for either team in district play. Tyler Harville and Matt Rose (recently watched by Kansas State) lead LCA into battle. Tates Creek, winners of two in a row after a 14-game losing streak, have suffered the injury bug this year but with Coach Wayne Breeden leading the way have the ability to pull through this one.

 

Tuesday – Paul Laurence Dunbar (17-9) vs. Lafayette (16-10) … This is the best first-round matchup in the 11th Region. Dunbar swept the season series, winning both games by double figures. Lafayette, though, has won five of seven, including two wins over Henry Clay, since the second loss to Dunbar. Mike Smith and William Gary will have to be good again for the Bulldogs, but the matchup to watch is Dunbar’s E.J. Floreal and Taylor King against Lafayette junior standout Jackson Davis. The Generals must also keep their turnovers down to have a chance to win this one. It is very hard to beat a good team three times.

 

Wednesday – Lexington Catholic vs. winner of LCA / Tates Creek … The Knights, led by senior center Jack Whitman, won the coveted No. 1 seed in the district with a 7-1 record. Regardless of who wins the play-in game, the Knights should advance. Catholic swept both teams during the regular season.

 

Friday – Finals

 

Prediction – Lafayette over Lexington Catholic (who will beat LCA in semis)
