Just got back from the Freshmen District Tournament of the 56th District that was at Powell County High School.

 

Powell County won it pretty easily. Pirates defeated Lee County, (not sure of the score, last I looked Powell lead 41-24 with around 2 mins to play) then they defeated Estill County 34-17 in the championship game. Powell lead 10-0 after 1 in the Estill game. Nice little crowd out for the freshmen, nothing like varsity or anything but still Freshmen had a nice little crowd there tonight.

Did Owsley play in it?

Nope. Estill had the bye while Lee and Powell played. Estill would then play Powell in the championship game. I over heard someone say that Owsley didn't have enough freshmen to field a freshmen team

That's happened in the past but they've usually just added junior high players to the freshmen to get a complete roster. Owsley is a much smaller school than the other 3 schools in the district, especially Powell and Estill, and in some years there are a shortage of basketball players in some classes.
