NCC vs. St. Henry Thoughts (All A 2nd Rnd)

Featured Replies

St. Henry has been shooting the ball well of late and the defense is looking much better. NCC has a big man that could trouble St. Henry but Kiernan has to stay out of foul trouble. NCC has been struggling early on but they only fell to Pendleton Co. by 5 pts. Are they back on track? I think this could be a classic rival game between the Breds and the Crusaders.

Do these two meet in the tourny every year?

St. Henry lit it up against Ludlow but most of those shots weren't defended very well. I think NCC will defend those shots much better. Kiernan is much bigger and stronger than St. Henry's inside players but the crusaders are very quick and agile.

If St. Henry can continue to shoot the 3 well they should advance. If NCC can control the tempo (not turn the ball over too much) and defend the jump shooter I like their chances.

Watching HC play NCC their are 2 main keys to beating NCC.

1. Keeping a body on Keirnan, and make him start his moves out higher than he is comfortable.

2. Contain Bueters penetration.

I like NCC... if Heil and Stoll are hitting its lights out.... Bueter can pentrate and Keirnan is a man among children some nights......You never know with Faust though....he always has a bunch of overachievers....

NCC can't make a foul shot to save their lives. Is it possible to shoot a higher % from three-land than the foul line?

NCC got the only draw possible that would allow them to contend because no way they go back to back to back on three straight nights like Beechwood and Newport would have to.

St. Henry does depend on the three but if they can get NCC in some foul trouble and put NCC on the line enough, they could easily win this one. First one to 50 maybe 40 wins.

I think the key to the game is going to be fouls. If St. Henry can keep Kolkmeier and Kuebbing out of foul trouble they can defend NCC much better. If Keirnan gets into foul trouble then the matchup become even. He is a beast and really plays well on the offensive side also. But he seems to be foul prone and I think the Crusaders will go right at him and try to get him out of the game just like Highlands did.

Talk on the foul trouble you want. The offense runs around Bueter penetration and Keirnans low post position. NCC is beatalbe by St.Henry regardless of the foul situation. Keep a hand in the shooters faces, and I see no reason St. Henry can't win. Kiernan needs a big game, he hasn't had one in awhile. When I watched him, he has all tools, but he seems timid.
