The first thread got closed very quick? I thought there would surely be more than 8 posts after such a good game.

 

Here's how I saw it. Very hard fought game by both teams. I thought Dillon Sizemore disrupted the interior play of north, he was a mad man, blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. North could not stop Dez Swafford from scoring inside. Will Jones hit several big buckets and grabbed some boards also. Clay's team defense was the best they've played this year. :thumb:

 

Clay couldn't stop Allen, I think he had 28. Allen is by far the best PG Clay has faced this year. Allen just didn't get much help from his teammates offensively in this one. North went to a half-court trapping defense in the 4th and it gave Clay's guards fits. It must have been very effective because Clay was up 53-33 with about 1:30 to go in the 3rd. North also had a chance to tie in the final seconds but failed to get a shot off.

 

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give the officiating in the game an 8. I didn't see any favoritism at all.

and I must say myself the Tigers looked DARN good tonight..best I have seen them all year...especially on D...Swafford really has become a good player....I was alittle upset that they lost thier 20 pt lead..but a Win is a Win....

 

.I know Kids will be Kids...but I just thought it was horrible..and this was yelled at people 50 and 60 years old....

 

I dont wont to hear anyone putting down Clay Co people for the way they act because North is way up on us in the bad behavior Catagory...

also...I cant even count how many times I heard "F Clay County" on the way to my truck, well lets just say they added a few letters to the F...I know Kids will be Kids...but I just thought it was horrible..and this was yelled at people 50 and 60 years old....

At least they didn't throw things at your team DURING THE GAME as was done to North Laurel the last time they played a football game at Clay County. I was there, it happened. It got so bad that an official went up to the press box and Country Earl (who I really think a lot of, a great guy) had to announce to the Clay fans to stop throwing things at the North Laurel players/coaches on the sidelines during the game.

 

There are bad fans for nearly any program so be careful not to throw stones when you live in a glass house.

 

On the upside, I don't see anyone complaining about the officiating. That is a very positive thing IMHO! :thumb:

2 years ago at a Clay County-North middle school football game at North there was a man in his 20's spitting on Clay County player's equipment. I'm not saying that what the Clay County people did was right that night, but how could a grown man spit on 12 year old's stuff????

I agree that this is reprehensible. A few years ago at a Clay vs North middle football game I saw an 8th grader for North called a by an adult wearing a Clay County Raider shirt. We can go back and forth all day long. I am embarassed by any fan's bad behavior, but do we really wanna go back and forth with examples like this? There are bad fans almost everywhere. I can give numerous examples from various schools, fans, coaches, etc but that isn't the issue here. I agree that it shouldn't be tolerated, but it cuts both ways.

I used an example because someone else started it with an example, (123456). My point was that there are bad fans almost anywhere. I can promise you that if the AD, Brian Coutras or the prinicipal Ms Hibbard catch wind of this, they will try to find those involved and deal with them. I have seen them escort students out at NL before if they felt they were out of line. I agree that those students should be dealt with if they said anything inappropriate.

 

But do you really wanna talk about chanting? Do you remember what was said to the foreign exchange players North had a few years ago before, during and after the game at Clay County? Anytime some chants derogatory comments towards a player in a high school game, they should be warned or removed. The only positive comments I heard during that entire game were from the legendary Coach Bobby Keith who said "if I had those kids, I would be cutting down the nets at Rupp this year". With his coaching ability, I happened to agree with him! Of course, negative comments were hurled at these kids at nearly every place they played, not just at Clay.

 

The bottom line is that those who cannot show good sportsmanship oughta be asked to leave and not come back IMHO.

I wish I could have been at this game. Just watching the replay on WOBZ. The difference, in the first half at least, was Clay's rebounding. They worked the offensive glass getting 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th chance baskets. Clay really impressed me with their hustle in that game.

WOW...... obviously a great game. Really wanted to be there but I wanted to watch the SL and Lafayette game instead. Really wish I had attended this one now because it looks to have been a better game.

 

I give Clay all the credit. I have said all year long that I felt NL and SL were the two best teams in the region with Clay taking 3rd. However the Tigers proved me wrong. Its still a close one between these two schools, but with Clay having the head to head win against NL they are undoubtedly the #2 team.

 

If it wasnt for SL in this region it would be one of the toughest, most competitive regions the 13th has seen in a long time.

 

Congrats Tigers....... pick it up NL and bounce back. I believe that we will most likely see one of these 2 schools playing SL for the regional championship.

Good win for the Tigers in front of a nice crowd. It seemed like a tournament atmosphere.

Now that I have seen the entire replay, I can comment better on the game.

 

- NL jumped out to an early lead and won the 1st quarter.

- Clay bounced right back and controlled most of the 2nd taking a 3 pt lead into the half

- Clay really extended their zone defense and jumped out to a 20+ pt lead with some very solid play

- NL finally got their traps working and got some easy baskets, but could only get back to within 1, Clay held on to win by 3

 

Both teams made some very solid adjustments making this a great back and forth battle the final few minutes was very exciting and now I really regret not going.
