State Championship Videos

Featured Replies

I've posted about this in the football forums a good bit...but for the sake of letting those who pay less attention to the gridiron know, the KHSAA has archived all of the state championship videos they have at EKU, and they are available to purchase through EKU's library. I just got ahold of Cov Cath's game against Earlington in the state finals from 1967. Pretty cool.

See THIS POST for instructions on how to order them.

Theoldguy...were you in the stands for this one?

I had a copy of the 1995 SK v Marshall Co game burned to Dvd for a buddy of mine on the team. I haved to say the quality was pretty good.

Right behind the CovCath basket that Earlington took the ball out of bounds on and I can tell you I cried like a baby. It was the longest 06 seconds in my life and I can remember it like it was yesterday

Would love and I mean I would really love to have a copy of that 67 game and I can tell you that I have seen the original film so many, many, times and each time that darn kid still made that shot!

Jimmy Cooper, George Schlomer, Randy Noll, Joe Fritz and Dale Overman.

To this day, I will say that Joe Fritz got royally screwed, by not making the all tourney team.

BTW, I was a member of the 1968 team that lost to Glasgow that CovCath will be honoring this Friday night.

What's up with the free throw lane? At first I thought they were shooting FTs from the top of the key.

I think that can be arranged.

Wasn't it Don Fritz?

Don Fritz I believe was a Freshmen and wasn't on the 67 team. The picture of that team is in the vestibule of the gym on the right.

Gotcha.

Gotcha.

Joe was a even better baseball player and one great guy. Had knee trouble and wore a brace. My guess today, is that knee would have been fixed without any problems and he would have been even better. Believe Joe went to St. Joe's PA. and played College basketball. Again one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet!

BTW to me at least Jimmy Cooper never received the glory that I felt he should have gotten as IMVHO Jimmy was the greatest true point guard that CovCath ever had. The things he could do with the basketball would amaze you young kids today. He would make the kid guarding him think he had throw the ball to another player and everybody in the stands would laugh as the kid guarding Jimmy, would look all around for the ball. Heck after a while the other team players knew Jimmy was going to do his thing but they would still fall for it. Jimmy went 17/17 from the Free Throw vs. Louisville Central at Freedom Hall but not sure if it was in the state tourney or LIT! One outstanding PG.
