The wording is confusing, but I'm guessing that the impetus is to eliminate the need for officials to judge "intent".

 

It's a safety issue. NFHS doesn't want defenseless shooters going down hard and risk injury regardless of intent by the defender.

That's always an unwritten POE.

 

However, without knowing you specifically and having never watched a game with you and watched you analyze calls, history says that there aren't as many missed calls as you think there are.

 

Looked at the Ashland paper today and there were 54 free throws shot in the Boyd/Russell game and 53 free throws shot in the Ashland/Lewis game. It doesn't appear as though they are missing too many opportunities to blow their whistles.

I agree and I hope that is the case. If they can manage to call more than 50 fouls in a game it's not worth watching.
