LCA almost got run off the court early when the Knights raced to a 17 point lead in the first half mostly on runout baskets off the LCA press. After halftime LCA dropped the press and managed to whittle away the LexCath lead to about 6 with some good threepoint shooting, but the Knights settled into a nice halfcourt offense and eventually rebuilt the lead to 22 before the JVs entered the game leading to the final margin.

Looks like besides a down game against Ashland Blazer the Knights have gotten back on track after a bad start to the season. Still they are in a competitive Region that will make winning it very hard.

I think by the time its over Scott County and LexCath will be the class of the region. I thought when LCA went to the halfcourt game they may have found the Knight's achilles heal but they made the adjustment after a few shaky moments. For what it's worth, I think LexCath played very well against Ashland considering the intensity of the game the night before.

Right, on the Ashland game that is what I thought though from reading how bad Ashland had been this year it still sounded like a lethargic game. Still the Scott Co. game had to take a lot out of the guys.

I like lex. catholic(especially novosel) and their coach, but no way will they be the class of the region, it's Scott Co.(by a wide margin) then everybody else led by Henry Clay, Lex. Catholic, Tates Creek, Lafayette and Station, you can even throw Lex. Christian and Mad. Central in the mix for#2, but the only team I can see knocking off Scott Co. is Lafayette, even though they took an untimely tumble to Lex. Christian, they have the only true big man in the region in terms of the combination of size and skill (Wilkerson) and I really like Gifford their point, but only time will tell.

The Knights have two good big men in Nate Novosel and Reid Brown. Brian Hewitt is a good scorer with very good range. I think the "X" factor for the Knights could be Zach Newton. The past couple weeks he has been playing very good. He has good handling skills, shoots with range, and can take the ball to the basket. I would keep my eye on this kid

I agree Newton could be big w/ his outside shooting. I wasn't impressed w/ him handling the ball against Scott Co. because he forced too much and made silly passes but it was one game so im not sure if that was just an off day or what. The big men will be crucial to the team and getting them the ball is important.

Thepeopleschamp, while I agree Scott Co. is still the favorite, the Knights beat them at Lex Cath but I felt proved they could hang w/ them. I'd say the margin isn't too wide. This region has a lot of solid teams w/ potential to upset anybody on a given night.

It's harder to gauge LexCath's position in the region because they don't play many of the principle players until the District tournament but I base my opinion on the fact that they seem able to play fast or slow, go large or quick, and have adapted well in recent in-game situations such as the two stated above. LexCath also has shown steady improvement whereas some of the others have been more erratic. There of course are six weeks left in the regular season and things may change dramatically in that time but right now I'll go with LexCath and SC at the top.
